Sanitary sewer extension

Haas & Associates provided engineering design and permitting coordination for the extension of sanitary sewer service into Michigan City’s newly annexed eastern area near the municipal airport. The work involved coordinating sewer and water infrastructure within a shared corridor, preparing site-clearing plans, and supporting complex highway and railroad crossing requirements.

Water main extension

Haas & Associates provided design, bidding, construction administration, and inspection services for water main improvements serving Michigan City’s annexed eastern area. The project included the Menke Road extension and coordination of airport property access, utility easements, railroad crossings, and INDOT permits to connect new infrastructure with the existing municipal water system.

Community Crossings Road and Drainage Improvements

Johnson Road & Community Crossings Street Improvements

Haas & Associates helped the Town of Trail Creek deliver its 2025 Community Crossings street improvement program, including rehabilitation of Johnson Road and several neighborhood streets. Services included grant assistance, design, bidding, construction administration, and field inspection. The work required coordination of pavement milling and resurfacing, existing drainage structures, utilities, and construction quantities. H&A also supported the Town through warranty repair coordination and final project closeout.

Maly Realty Parking & Drainage Improvements

Haas & Associates provided existing-conditions surveying, grading and drainage design, and construction observation for Maly Realty’s commercial parking-lot improvements on Franklin Street. The design addressed areas prone to ponding through revised grades and three new drainage inlets. During construction, H&A evaluated exposed subgrade and aggregate-base conditions, observed proof rolling and drainage installation, and coordinated field adjustments with the owner and contractor. Construction was phased to accommodate continued business activity.

South TIF Connectivity Improvements — Phase 1

Haas & Associates provided design, bidding, and construction-phase services for the first construction phase of Michigan City’s South TIF Connectivity Improvements program. The project included improvements along Westwind Road, US 421, and Larkspur Lane, with new sidewalks and pedestrian amenities serving the commercial corridor. Our work included sidewalk alignment and grading, drainage coordination, coordination with the traffic engineering consultant, and field support to address existing utilities and site conditions. Construction services extended through final adjustments and project closeout.

Millennium Plaza, Michigan City, Indiana

Millennium Plaza Fountain Demolition

Haas & Associates prepared engineering plans and specifications for removal of the Millennium Plaza fountain and restoration of its footprint within the surrounding public plaza. The design addressed demolition limits, utility capping and electrical decommissioning, construction access, erosion-control measures, and protection of adjacent features. Restoration options included concrete paving and an alternate paver treatment coordinated with the plaza’s existing radial hardscape pattern.

Plans and specifications addressed installation constraints, use of Town-procured materials, and restoration of disturbed surfaces and site features. H&A supported the project through construction and subsequent closeout documentation.
