Southgate Neighborhood

The project need

Address longstanding drainage problems along relatively flat neighborhood streets and in low-lying rear yards while improving pedestrian connections.

H&A’s response

H&A developed drainage improvements for the public streets and an existing rear-yard drainage corridor. Storm sewers and grading changes were coordinated with sidewalk modifications to address runoff and neighborhood access together.

Project context and status

The 2019–2020 project addressed drainage needs within an established Michigan City neighborhood and connected those improvements with the surrounding street network.
