Michigan City Zoo — Big Cats Exhibit
Structural engineering for improvements to the zoo’s Big Cats exhibit area, including load calculations, member sizing, and later field review.
The project need
Support improvements to the Big Cats exhibit area for the Michigan City Parks Department.
H&A’s response
H&A reviewed existing drawings, supported preliminary improvement planning and cost estimating, and performed structural load calculations and member sizing.
The engineering work included consideration of impact loads. A later site visit addressed existing-wall conditions in the exhibit area.
Project context and status
Project records document planning and design work in 2018–2019 and a follow-up field review in 2022.
